This half term our topic is the rebels of the art world – a study of those artists who rebelled against the accepted norms of their day to create a new movement.  We will study Impressionists such as Monet and Seurat, and Post-Impressionists such as Van Gogh. Expressionist artist Edvard Munch is followed by the Cubism of Picasso, then the Surrealism of Salvador Dali. We will finish with the beautiful flowers of Post-Modernist Georgia O’Keefe. The children will produce art in a variety of media including paint and oil pastel.

CLASS BOOK

CRATER LAKE by Jennifer Killick

Who is the mysterious bloodstained man who stops their coach? Why is no one around when Lance and the rest of Year Six arrive at the brand new Crater Lake activity centre? But this is just the beginning of the school trip from hell; a fight for survival that sees five pupils band together to save their classmates from an alien fate far worse than death. But whatever happens, they must Never. Ever. Fall asleep!

Autumn 1 Topic

Flee your fields, close your doors and pull up the drawbridge. The dreaded and deadly Great Pestilence is here. Mount your steed and gallop through the dark and deadly world of 14th century Britain, sword and shield at the ready, pledging your allegiance to king and country. Rouse your troops with promises of bloody battle and violent jousts. Read and write historical accounts, poems and tales and discover the grotesque effects of bugs and bacteria on the human body. And if you smell a rat, my friend, get out of there! Our topic this half term will be all about medieval times.

What we get up to!

SLIDESHOW

Homework

Children will need to read each night and have their reading journals signed. This includes weekends.

Four timestable sheets will be sent home on a Monday. Children need to complete one each night from Monday through to Thursday. Children will be tested on Friday. The task should be timed for 5 minutes.

Children practise spellings every morning in lesson. Tests will take place on a Friday morning so punctuality is key. In the event that Friday is a special celebration day e.g. World Book Day / Trip, we will reschedule a test for Monday morning.
