My name is Mrs Greenway, and I have been RE lead at St Mary’s for several years. I am passionate about the teaching of RE in school as I believe that it crosses so many areas of the curriculum and underpins the ethos of the school. I really believe that the coverage of RE at St Mary’s has become more thorough, and it is more valued as a subject. I like to ensure the teaching of this subject uses a variety of lesson styles and encourages children demonstrate their knowledge through Art, Drama and a variety of writing tasks. I feel it is important that children understand that we have all many of the same morals and values, even if our religious practises are different.
We use a 2 year rolling programme based on the JIgsaw scheme of work that has been mapped to the Essex agreed sylabus
